Addicted to Portal

February 7th, 2008 — 12:03am

Damn you! You Valve personnel are a bunch of a**holes for creating this incredibly addictive and awesomely spectacular game. Short enough for you to beat in 5 hours (which I proved last weekend [Sorry Ken, Joel]) but enough MADNESS to go around with all the challenges, advanced maps, etc to keep you itching like a crack fiend. The premise of the game is that you have this gun that shoots a blue or orange portal that allows you to create a path for yourself. For example, if you shoot an orange portal on the ceiling then shoot a blue beneath you, you go through the ceiling portal. The puzzles are addictive, challenging and frustrating too. All in good fun. If you think that I’m lying try the fan-based flash version of the of the game and tell me you didn’t want to scream in frustration, yet you couldn’t stop playing it. PS - I beat that one too. In case you are wondering how awesome the 3D version is here’s a video:

Xbox 360 Bliggity Blog Blam!

February 4th, 2008 — 7:00am

I’d say I’m a slightly more than average gamer… I love gaming but still manage not to totally obsess over it. That being said, lately I’ve been on a gaming binge thanks to Achievements. I have found that these completely meaningless points have done something for me that no other console really has: play my games to completion. With the original Xbox, I loved gaming but left many games without beating them. Games I loved! These achievement points have given me a reason to game! I have four 360 games that I have beaten this month already and that I’m still playing because I wanna taste the thrill of officially beaten the game by achieving the difficult and I’ve never felt like a truer gamer. Don’t believe me? Check out my 360’s blog.
